Hayley Vaughan-Smith
Therapeutic Counsellor
Welcome to the Ridge Practice and my counselling website. I am a qualified person-centred, Therapeutic Counsellor. Following 8 years serving and supporting families in the private mental health sector, I work now as an independent Counsellor at The Ridge Practice and also provide counselling services at Everlief Child Psychology www.everlief.co.uk in West Wycombe.
I work with individuals who are in need of a safe, non-judgemental space where they can talk about their worries, challenges and difficulties, whatever they may be. My additional role as a Bereavement Volunteer with a national charity enabled me to support individuals who have suffered loss through bereavement.
I also offer Eco Therapy sessions which include walk and talk therapy outside in the open air. Click here for details.
The Ridge Practice is situated in the beautiful village of Bledlow Ridge with stunning walks and views of the Chiltern countryside.

The Ridge Practice counselling room has its own dedicated entrance and bathroom and is a really tranquil and light setting to sit comfortably and talk. Environment and external factors can influence how we feel, so this was central to how I designed the space for clients.

What is Counselling?
Counselling falls under the umbrella term ‘Talking Therapies’. As a Counsellor I offer a safe, confidential and non- judgmental space for you to talk at your own pace, discuss difficulties and challenges and explore thoughts and feelings in more depth to help you get the best out of life.
I am here to listen, empathise, encourage and help you to resolve and understand personal, social or psychological difficulties.
Walk and Talk Sessions
Walk and Talk sessions – immersing ourselves in nature, connecting with our own sense of sound, smell, touch can improve mental and emotional well-being. Sometimes, we can find it difficult to open up and know how and where to start talking . . .
Grief Counselling
The loss of a loved one, whether it is a family member, friend, colleague or pet can be very hard to bear. Death may be expected or unexpected,a suicide and sometimes, unexplained and all of these circumstances can bring a wide range of feelings . . .
For Young People
I offer counselling for young people age 14 and upwards. Growing up in the modern world can bring many challenges for young people who are navigating puberty and the physical and emotional changes this brings. This is a time where they are starting to explore . . .
